Joshua Jeffery Digital Portfolio

Current Stuff:
Mind Tools – A company striving to enhance the creative process amongst actors, designers and other creative people. We've just released our first product line: the Drama Series, available online or through The Drama Bookshop. I'm the product and graphic designer for this company.
Evil Genius Designs – A company I started with some colleagues from grad school. We are a boutique design firm that brings video game technologies and principles to places like theme parks and museums.

Past Projects and Stuff:
Thinkwell Design and Production– I worked here as an intern in the summer of 2008. Thinkwell is among the leaders of the design of theme parks, resorts, museums and other amazing entertainment experiences.
Robot Hall of Fame– A project I worked on at Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center. Along with a team of five colleagues, I'm creating a themed installation for the Carnegie Science Center's new Robot Hall of Fame. The experience will feature a photo-souvenir station with R2D2 and C3PO from the Star Wars saga.
Simply Cheesecakes – A friend and the wife of one of my undergrad professors makes THE BEST cheesecakes in the world. Seriously. She can ship them everywhere too! Get one now!!!

Academic:

SUNY Fredonia– My undergraduate college
Department of Theatre and Dance– My undergraduate program
Carnegie Mellon University– My graduate school
Entertainment Technology Center– My graduate program
Building Virtual Worlds– Foundation course at Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center, where students work in four-person team in two-week cycles, rapid prototyping virtual experiences on multiple non-traditional platforms.

Environment/Design:
Gigapan– The ultimate camera, allowing you to zoom almost infinitely and discover details you never knew were there.
National Park Service Image Archives– A repository of amazing nature photography from America's National Parks. Great for research or meditative surfing.
Sears Kit Home Archives – A great archive of Sears Kit Homes from the early part of the 20th century. Here you can view home and blueprint ads from the period. I often research this site and identify the homes in my neighborhood and other cities.
National Geographic Images – The source of a lot of research and inspiration.
MoMA – The only museum I know of where the environment is just as compelling as the art it holds.

Art:
John Singer Sargent Online Gallery– My favorite portrait artist.
Andrew Wyeth Online– Another of my favorite artists and a pioneer in the genre of 'Magic Realism'.

Theatre:
The Utah Shakespearean Festival – A fantastic theatre company with which I've worked as a scenic artist.
The Texas Repertory Theatre – A Houston, Texas-based theatre company I've worked for as a scenic designer.
Mount Washington Valley Theatre Company – A North Conway, New Hampshire-based theatre company I've worked for as a properties master.

Dance:
Troika Ranch Dance Company – Interactive Digital Dance Theatre...the name says it all. I've had three amazing experiences with this dance group, who create some of the most compelling, technically advanced stuff around.
VIA Dance Collaborative – Innovative dance out of NYC. Performed with them as a guest artist in 2005.
NYSSSA School of Dance – A summer program run by the New York State Summer School for the Arts. A highly selective dance program for high school students in NY. I was selected for two summers and worked with some amazing companies here.

'Other':
Peggle – an insanely addictive physics-based game...no matter how overly-themed it is.
Google Earth – Fascinating and also addictive.
Sansepolcro, Italy– Homepage of a town in Italy where I was a foreign exchange student in 2000.
